Description

Recertification allows participants to practice and review skills, as well as learn new standards in first aid. This course is recognized by WSIB Ontario and in accordance to the 2010 ILCOR CPR guidelines.

Prerequisite: CURRENT Standard First Aid Certification

Duration: Eight hours

Certification: CPR/FIRST AID Valid for three years

CPR/FIRST AID Reference Manual, Pocket Field Booklet & Certification Card Distributed

Course Overview:

       REVIEW and PRACTICE the following objectives:

       Scene Management, Primary and Secondary Assessment

       Anatomy and Physiology

       Adult, Child and Infant CPR and Choking Procedures

       Automated External Defibrillation (AED)

       Cardiovascular Emergencies – heart attack, angina, stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA)

       Shock Management

       Bleeding

       Musculoskeletal Injuries – breaks, sprains, strains, dislocations and fractures

       Eye, Head and Spinal Injuries

       Chest and Abdominal Injuries

       Burns

       Medical Emergencies – diabetes, asthma, anaphylaxis, poisoning and seizures

       Environmental - Hot and Cold – Emergencies

       Triage

       Moving and lifting

       Practice Scenarios

       Written Test
