The Young Construction Leaders of OCA have annually dedicated a day or two to generously work on a community project volunteering their time.

Past recipients of the community day build have been Ottawa Community Housing and the Boys & Girls Club.

For 2017 Christie Lake Kids camp at Perth will be the beneficiary of a number of construction upgrades.

Check out the CLK website at this LINK.  Simple message is Christie Lake Kids serves economically disadvantaged children and youth by providing recreation and skill-building programs at no cost and with all barriers to participation removed.

The volunteer build is scheduled for Tuesday, September 19.

The YCL Executive Committee has identified several small jobs with CLK that can be done in an one day 'team build'. The jobs include replacement of cabin roofs from shingles to metal, replace facia, repaint the floors of up to 25 cabins, a deck repair of main building, re-level gravel road, parging and vinyl siding repairs on main building.

The OCA wishes to invite all members to consider this community build opportunity with your staff 'team' for potential day of labour volunteer. If interested please register your name to receive future updates as planning progresses.

If volunteering a day is not an option please consider becoming a financial sponsor as materials and equipment will be needed. I have set 3 donation levels of Gold - $1,000   Silver - $500 and Bronze - $250. Click HERE to make a sponsoring donation.

The job list is modest and if response is strong OCA will be able to tell Christie Lake Kids that the industry can do more.

All firms providing volunteers or material or financial donations will be recognized by OCA leading up to the event along with a story in our Construct Comment magazine following the community build.

Additional information on what work is being planned and how you can help out can be obtained from OYCL executive committee members Brandon Lachapelle of member firm Framework or YCL Chair Nick Frauley of PCL Constructors.
